A truly wonderful memoir, "Butterfly Awakens," by Meg Nocero, a lawyer turned writer and motivational speaker. This is an emotionally rich and spiritually enlightening memoir of the author's own, very personal journey through the darkness of grief toward healing and self-discovery. She shares her experience recovering from her beloved mother, Mary Jo, death due to breast cancer. It is a memoir about grief, resilience, and healing, and it also gives lessons about life, loss, and ultimately the transformation.

The memoir is divided into three parts: Grief, Transformation, and Free. All three parts show the different stages of the author's emotional and spiritual journey. Nocero is living a seemingly successful life as a federal immigration prosecutor, wife, and mother. But her whole world is turned upside down with the very sad news of her mother having breast cancer. Her mom, a very strong woman, tries to be optimistic, but the illness only gets worse and eventually leads her to death, which destroys Nocero's world. Not only does she fight her sadness, but her anger, her confusion, and her depression after her mother's death. She went to the famous Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage of physical and emotional healing. It is her journey from deep grief to acceptance, from pain to healing, from being lost to finding herself.

The character development is superb, especially Nocero. At the beginning, she is a woman overwhelmed by grief, trying to find her place in a world that feels unstable after her mother's death. Yet, as the story progresses, she evolves from someone consumed by sorrow into a person embracing a more profound, authentic self. Also, the book was well created and thoroughly proofread without any grammatical errors.

"Butterfly Awakens" is an inspiring memoir that takes us through sadness, spiritual awakening, and personal transformation. I would gladly give this book a five out of five stars without any negative points to dislike, all because of Nocero's wonderful writing, her openness and truthfulness, and her spiritual insights.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is also struggling with or searching their way through grief, loss, or significant life changes.
