[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Journey to China" by Ruby Tsao.]
"Journey to China: History and Travel" is a book by Ruby Lao Tsao that captures the history, values, beauty, and greatness that is the People’s Republic of China. The author takes readers on an insightful journey through China's history spanning centuries. With 300+ travel photos, personal stories, histories, and overviews of the cities and great men of China, this book is loaded with so much knowledge.
There was nothing to dislike about this book; it was perfectly well edited with only a few errors noted. Every chapter in this book was like diving deeper into the depths of China and being loaded with so much knowledge. This book was educational, exciting, inspirational, and well written. I loved how the author took time to cover different topics in different chapters, dividing them into different subheadings, making for better comprehension and understanding. I loved that the author added opinions on the history and events that happened in China, not just giving us a textbook version of the history of China. I loved how the author took time out to educate us on the predominant religions in China, taking time out to explain how it came into China. I loved how the author's travel experiences added a form of reality to the book, adding more interest to the book. Most of all, the pictures in the book were the highlight of my reading experience. The book was good, but the pictures made it perfect.
I read this book in one sitting, as it sucked me in from the beginning. I enjoyed every bit of it and hope everyone could share in the knowledge this author has embedded in this book. For this reason, I give this a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
I would gladly recommend this book to historians and tourists looking to visit the People’s Republic of China.
