Review of Butterfly Awakens
Butterfly Awakens" by Meg Nocero is indeed a must read for anyone dealing with loss. With the author calling everyone's attention to a question, we all need to awaken to “who we are, why we are here, and perhaps why we go through what we do." As simple as this question is, anyone who wants to bring something effective out of life must continually ask himself/herself this question.
The tale of the author made me realize: Life does not give you what you want; you rather place a demand to deserve all your desire. Was it from the first day in school, faced with a lot of harassment, embarrassment, and bullying, but yet she kept smiling, even though the joyful, carefree part of her started to die? This means everything that is good does not come cheap. There is always a price to pay.
Meg's journey, from her first day in school to all she faced as a lawyer and even all she was faced with during her mother’s health complications and illness, all attest to the fact that life is indeed a marathon, not a race. And this is most times for the strong and not for the weak. This made me realize that giving up should never be an option, no matter what the situation may look like or even why life seems so hard and difficult to navigate.
Chapter 17 caught my attention the most. “We plan, God laughs,” like the author rightfully said, “We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.” Meg’s decision to move on When the stormy winds of change came blowing through her life, when she was caught up in a dilemma of choice and decision, when reality was done on her, it was a life-changing decision that many of us need to make when we are faced with what life really has to offer us. Although it comes with pain, like the author said, “I felt rejected, unappreciated, and dismissed in the end. This came hard, especially when at the beginning of that professional chapter many years earlier, I felt like I had finally arrived," but there's always light at the end of every tunnel.
I love this book; why? Cause Meg was able to pen down her story into a living testimony, which can serve as a template and legacy to many, but while the book remains perfect, grammatically correct, well edited, and flawless, I suggest that due attention must be put into consideration for readers that are not into law. At some point when I started reading this book, I found it complicated because I can relate more to science. But despite all these highlights, ”Butterfly Awakens” deserves a perfect 5 star rating beyond doubt.
After reading this book, the author's statement at the beginning of the prologue is, “Maybe my story will resonate with you. Maybe it won’t” is not just based on contemplation (Maybe). It resonated deeply with me, giving me an assurance that there is indeed a light at the end of every tunnel; it only takes time before it becomes a reality. Indeed, “Everything does have a purpose”.
