How to Survive Protracted Civil Litigation is a very well-thought-out and informative read. There were no errors in my read-through. I enjoyed the way Claudia Barder structured this book. Each section and subsection was well-marked. I appreciate this because legal works can be challenging to read and understand, and making them accessible to people who might not have any legal background opens this book up to more readers. While I have some background because of my studies, I tried to look at it objectively.

Claudia Barder breaks down all the different aspects of the justice system to show where there is room for unfairness and inequity, from the judges themselves to the very structural integrity of the system itself. The author doesn’t just put words on the pages, though; nestled between all the systematic talk are actual instances where the system failed and whether or not there were repercussions for those instances, which kept me engaged while I read.

Sometimes, reading something like this can be dry, but the author does a great job balancing the facts with storytelling to make the reader feel they need to know more. It’s a good balance of knowledge of facts and what to expect if thrust into this with minimal understanding.

Barder navigates us through the justice system while showing us what to avoid and what to look out for when it comes to lawyers, the system, and the process full of checks and balances that the everyday person isn’t privy to. It’s a peek into the back door that everyone should know so they can protect themselves in the future.

I recommend this read to anyone looking for a much easier way to understand and navigate a very complex justice system. It is full of the different parts of the process regarding the court system and taking legal action. It maps out helpful tips and exposes red flags for anyone to look out for. I wouldn’t change anything about this book, and for all the reasons I stated above, I give this read a five out of five stars.

I'm so interested in the various justice systems, I have little knowledge about the systems. Would be great to learn more.
