Have you ever experienced receiving a gift or a call from someone just when you did not know it was what you wanted or needed? Room Without Walls: A Transformational Journey by Ruth Ferguson could be that gift. Ruth undergoes a miscarriage and loses her brother, which breaks her down; she also experiences disappointments with her husband, especially after the miscarriage. This makes their bond break and develops hatred, leading her to devise ways to make her husband feel the hurt and pain she is going through.

The author takes us through how she develops into a transformative embrace of healing and renewed faith in God. She has used Christian principles with Biblical themes and scriptures, along with questions for self-help. The Bible verses contain the state she was in during the various stages of her life. They have also reflected on the times when the emotional pain was intense. The choice of the verses and the relation with her experiences are great. Her experience in counseling and mentoring other women is evident in how she handled all the book's topics.

I loved the use of analogies like the one about the butterfly cocoon and how it relates to the transformation we undergo under challenging situations. I also loved the quote: "Do not let any situation overpower you without having the right people around to support you, and when you have them, appreciate them." I also loved the lesson that transformations start from within. There is no negative part I came across, so there is no part of this book that I disliked.

This book is partly motivational and inspirational; the author did a great job of making it serve its purpose. The book contained absolutely no errors, and that is why I give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. Taking responsibility for your mind and emotions is the first step toward transformation. I recommend this book to those who have experienced hurt, grief, trauma, and encountering challenges in their adult relationships.
