My Spouse, My Friend by Ingiete Oyama is a spiritual guidance book about love and relationships. Ingiete discusses matters such as love and marriage, how God intended relationships to function, how to invite him into strengthening our relationships, and so on. She often cites the Bible and offers their interpretations. The passages correspond well with the chapter's main focus and complement the discussion.

There was a lot to learn from this book. I loved the purpose of this book, as I found the chapters informative and relatable. The author seemed to have strong opinions, but most of them were based on research and God's words; therefore, I found them helpful. Her outlook wasn't pressuring to me, even though her writing style was very confident. I loved learning more about how God intended relationships to work and reading another person's ideas. The book is thought-provoking and interesting. She remarks that both partners have to contribute in their ways to God and each other, and once they are connected through their faith, the bond is as strong as a two-thread rope. 

There were some slight downsides too. Firstly, sometimes the author went around the same point several times, which created a feeling of uncertainty and minor boredom. Secondly, I came across a few minor errors in it. Even though I don't find these reasons enough to deduct a point, I think another round of editing would do the book a lot of good. It would make it more engaging, valuable, and easily understandable. 

As I mentioned, the book has no serious negative aspects, so I rate it 5 out of 5 stars for its positive points. I especially recommend this book to young adults who are in the phase of getting into relationships and would like some healthy advice. It's important to trust God and his ways, so I think every person who has faith would learn a little something from it.
