Anger Management Solutions for Parents by Agnes Blake allows parents to increase their emotional intelligence, effective communication, and long-lasting familial bonds. The book consists of nine short chapters and many well-organized subsections that will guide parents, regardless of how busy or free parents are to invest in their families. However, all parents must be patient and committed.

The author believes that by reading this book, we can learn to stay calm, focus on challenging scenarios, identify our triggers to manage our anger, find ways to gain understanding and cooperation with our children, and also build a support system (friendly, familial, etc.).

In this book, you will learn about the brain’s neuroplasticity regarding anger, generational aspects that are passed down from our parents, how to recognize signs of anger, how one’s anger affects others, mindfulness techniques, deep breathing, visualization tactics (like the “mind jar” activity), a reflection exercises, setting boundaries, emotional validation, reconciliation rituals, the benefits of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), references of the contents of the book, and much more.

How can we identify our anger triggers? Which self-reflection questions are helpful? How do we break free from inherited patterns? What is the neurological basis of anger? The book answers these questions and others.

I like that the author emphasizes that “managing anger is a journey, not a destination.” I also learned that having a “trigger identification worksheet” makes you more self-aware of your anger. I also liked learning the 4-7-8 deep breathing technique to reduce stress and anxiety. I also learned some practical mindfulness practices, which can be done even if you have a busy lifestyle.

I dislike nothing about the book. It contains perfect grammar and is well-edited, with no noticeable errors. It is a profanity-free and enjoyable read. I recommend it to all parents and readers who wish to manage their anger better. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars.
