The Emotional Alchemy of Healing is a powerful book about grief and healing. I was expecting it to be sad, but it was empathetic instead, which was a welcome surprise. The book begins by helping the reader establish where they are on their journey and where they are going. Then it talks about some actions you can do now to help you get to your goal. One of the examples that I connected with is moving away from relationships that harm you. There are many different ways that a relationship can harm you. I had a friend growing up who was very selfish with her demands on my energy. She never physically harmed me, but the relationship took more than it gave me. Seeing a book recommend paying attention to that was nice. It is hard to create boundaries or separate from a relationship that isn’t helping you, but it makes a lot of difference in your healing journey. Once those foundations are built, the book talks about turning pain into joy, becoming stronger, working through reminders and memories, preparing for surprise emotions, and honoring loved ones that we have lost.

I loved that this book covers so much. While it focuses on the grief of losing someone, many of the principles can be used for other types of grief too. I also loved that each chapter ends with tools for your emotional alchemy toolbox. There are so many things throughout the book that you can take action on instead of just reading about healing. Reading about healing is great, but you need to put in the work. This book helps you do that. I did not see any errors while I was reading either. The editing is amazing. The format uses white space, quotes, headings, and other formatting tools that make a book better and easier to read.

There is nothing that I didn’t like about this book. I read it in two days. It was interesting to read; I learned a lot, and the formatting made reading it easier.

I rate The Emotional Alchemy of Healing 5 out of 5 stars for all of the reasons I listed above. I highly recommend reading this book.
