Bedtimes can mean different things to different children, depending on their personality and exposures during the day. And then there are common issues faced by children as the day comes to a close, like fear of the dark. So it can be challenging for children to wind down and get a peaceful, satisfying sleep. After reading Dreamy Bedtime Meditations for Children (Mindful Magic Series): Embark on Relaxing Sleepytime Adventures to Calm, Soothe Nighttime Anxiety & Drift into Peaceful Slumber by Kaela Green Carter, I have no doubt recommending it to parents as a helpful guide for crafting effective bedtime routines for their children.

The author begins the book with an animated discussion on why bedtime meditation is a necessary ritual. There is extensive note that covers the impact of the realities of our modern world on children, various benefits of mindfulness and bedtime meditation, and how to create a conducive atmosphere in the bedroom, among others. These prepare the ground for the guided bedtime meditations in the later part of the book.

It was hard for me picking a favorite from the guided meditations; they are all intentionally crafted and are so enchanting, so promising, so comforting and so assuring. They have such a powerful influence on the senses. Take, for instance, the following. The soft embrace of the cloud, likened to a warm hug, works on the sense of touch. The scent of lavender, of moss, of wildflowers works on the sense of smell. The glistening water, compared to liquid silver, works on the sense of sight.

The guided meditations are carefully worded. Specific words are repeated and switched for emphasis and effect, like "gliding and soaring, soaring and gliding." The descriptions are vivid and picturesque and stretch the children's minds to different worlds and introduce them to different experiences and friendships. Each adventure is phenomenal and has remarkable impacts on the children's mental and emotional well-being, resulting in a calm state of mind and body and a satisfying sleep. For all these reasons, I rate this book five out of five stars.

The book was well proofread, but there are two errors that need to be fixed. However, they didn't interfere with my reading, and so I didn't factor this in my rating of this book. Dreamy Bedtime Meditations for Children (Mindful Magic Series): Embark on Relaxing Sleepytime Adventures to Calm, Soothe Nighttime Anxiety & Drift into Peaceful Slumber is most suitable for children aged four to ten.
