[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "The Three O'Clock Calls" by Tom Smith.]
A real account of navigating life through faith in Jesus Christ.
In The Three O’Clock Calls, Tom Smith shares the stories of three people—George, Danielle, and Blake. Each three o’clock call brought a heartbreaking revelation. Though they walked completely different paths, their fates took shape in ways one could not fathom.
George was an alcoholic, an abusive husband, and a negligent father, yet he easily got away from his wrongdoings. Danielle and Blake were young adults with good hearts and bright futures, yet their lives ended in tragedy. If God loves His people, why does He allow such things to happen?
Without strong faith, one may see only unfairness. But these stories bear witness to the truth that even in suffering, it is possible to love and forgive a broken father. It is possible to find peace after the devastating loss of a loved one. Pain may never fully disappear, but faith in Christ can give the strength to endure, and prayer can light the way through the darkness.
Based on real events from his life, Tom Smith brings a vivid and heartfelt narrative to this nonfiction book. The weight of grief and sorrow is palpable, but at the same time, readers can also see the hope and promise of redemption. Living a Christian life, surrounded by the kindness of family, friends, and the church community, and leaning on prayer is how one can turn even the deepest wounds into joy and happiness.
I found no errors, nor did I have anything to dislike about this book. Well-written and impeccably edited, it stands as a testament to the power of faith, guiding readers toward a life of love, gratitude, and forgiveness. It is an inspiring read that deserves 5 out of 5 stars. I especially recommend it to Christians, who would benefit the most. However, non-religious readers in difficult times may also find comfort and meaning in this book.
