This book was informational and enjoyable to read. I give it 5 stars for being entertaining through what I thought would be a mundane subject matter. I never thought I would be interested in plumbing, but the author's attitude towards his work is dramatic enough to hold my attention. His thought of returning to planning activities based on natural cycles like weather to remind us that we are part of nature are interesting. The author frequently reminds the reader that plumbing systems are delicate and doomed to fail, which I found humorous throughout the book. After reading enough details about why they're so delicate, it has made me wonder how they stay functional for very long at all. The beginning of his interest in plumbing was fascinating. His descriptions are straightforward and thorough enough to be easily understood by someone who knows absolutely nothing about the subject of plumbing. Learning about the different options and ways people have heated and transported water through time was my favorite part. I enjoyed the author's sense of humor and the personality he put into his writing. He tells some funny stories and sort of catastrophizes everything, but that adds the drama. I find myself wondering what kind of pipes my water is coming out of and what's holding them together. Honestly this book has sparked some interest in plumbing in myself that I don't think will go away completely. I know more about how plumbing works than I ever thought I would. I know just enough to be dangerous and not enough to be useful in a practical situation. My mind has successfully been led to the author's main point. Our current plumbing systems are not going to last and are contributing to harm to the human race and the earth in general. I enjoyed the tone and information this book holds.
