No matter what we do, we cannot stop the years from passing by or our ages from increasing. However, our choices can make this process a tolerable and favorable one or a grueling experience.

Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer takes us through unlearning, relearning, and reshaping. This book delves into the delicate area of retirement and one's level of preparation towards it and for it. According to the author, Americans are living longer, though growing older, and existing government-made and company-made plans for retirement are falling through and no longer sufficient. The author in this book then proceeds to lead us through a journey of reconfiguring our lives towards retirement, opening us to the possibility of not stopping work even after retiring, taking up careers that we love, and building financial systems to fall back on during the retirement age. The author explains many concepts, beginning with the importance of acquiring income, setting up income protection, and finding your career path, like jobs or careers that fit one's personality, as many employees are dissatisfied with their jobs. Also, he lectures readers about tools on the web that guide retirement planning and many others, ending with a list of books that provide more profound knowledge on retirement.

This book was very educational and insightful. I liked the way the author was plain, honest, and real about everything, speaking about disability, death, failed social security and pension, failing health, and all possibilities associated with growing old. It encouraged me to take intentional steps to start preparing for retirement to make it easy. I appreciated reading this book because sometimes retirement can be scary. The book opened my mind to various opportunities one can venture into and also taught me how to set up a well-structured plan to make retirement easier.

There was nothing to dislike about this book. It was very helpful and would be a great resource to everyone preparing for the future.

Overall, I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars because it is well-written and beneficial. There were no errors in it; it was superbly edited. I recommend this book to anyone who is planning for retirement and also to working-class individuals.
