Review of Room Without Walls: A Transformational Journey
It is a huge privilege to learn from the experience of people who have gone ahead of you in life, especially for people who grew up in an environment where no one was available to give them sound counseling. Room Without Walls: A Transformational Journey by Ruth Ferguson is beyond a memoir; I would best describe it as a life guide founded on the undiluted truth of God’s word. While our experiences can be an impactful way to learn, this book evinces a woman passionate about impacting the world and readers with her story and life experiences.
This book is a compilation of the author’s life experiences through emotional pain, doubts, sadness, marital complications, and more with the sole aim of helping readers build their faith and confidence in God. This book further provides counseling to readers who are shaken and overwhelmed by the storms of life through understanding that God is present, God knows us, God hears and answers prayers, the impact of our faith on our transformation, and more.
This book won my heart from start to finish. Firstly, I understand the courage that comes with reflecting on your past traumas and mistakes and taking the time to write about them just to inspire readers. This is an act worthy of commendation. I enjoyed the admonitions on marital choice and the need to look beyond physical appearance. One thing that made this book inspiring was not only that the author included biblical references, but that these biblical references and quotations came into the right place with an undiluted interpretation. The book was passionately written in such a way that I could feel every bit of the author’s emotions. In fact, I began to self-reflect on what my reactions would be if I found myself in a similar situation.
This book was excellently edited, as I could not find any errors or anything to dislike in it. The organization of this book was great, and the author’s writing proved her to be a talented writer and storyteller. I loved the summary section and the readers' response and reflection section at the end of each chapter.
With nothing against this book and due to the positive reasons above and how this book appealed to me, I will rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to all lovers of nonfiction and those seeking to build their faith in God in the midst of life challenges.
