This book is an eye-opening exploration of the Scriptures. Profound Secrets of Jesus and His Inner Circle by Patrick B. Cage goes beyond the superficial knowledge of what we know to more in-depth secrets we might have overlooked. The author begins with the story of Abraham sacrificing his son at God’s command, then he explores various topics, such as the trial, crucifixion, and resurrection of Christ, major roles played by Mary Magdalene and Paul, and the miracles performed by Jesus, just to mention a few.

I enjoyed reading this book and learnt a great deal from it. I loved how Jesus always prioritized the rights of women and did not believe that they should be shunned. It made me happy to know that our fight for feminism is backed up and supported by our Lord Jesus Christ. This book was indeed an eye-opener for me. I grew up in a Christian home, so I’m quite familiar with the stories of some scriptures in the Bible, but this book proved that I lacked a lot of in-depth knowledge. One of my shocking findings from reading this book is that gays, lesbians, and homosexuals will be allowed into the kingdom of heaven. I always wondered what their fate would be in the afterlife, but the author made it clear to us and backed his claims with biblical scriptures that they would indeed not be cast out by God. The author also made me understand past the superficial reasoning that Judas did not betray Jesus, the Jews did not kill Jesus and that Pontius Pilate, in all his failures, did not end the ministry of Jesus; instead, they were all fulfilling the prophecy of the scripture. It would also surprise you to find out that Jesus was crucified not because He falsely claimed that He was the Messiah but because the High Priests and the leadership councils were convinced that He was. This book indeed lived up to its name, as these are just a few of my many findings.

The author’s writing skills are very commendable. It was clear, concise, and easy to understand. I also found no grammatical errors in my course of reading, which allowed for a seamless experience, and for this, I rate it a 4 out of 5. I had to deduct one star because some of the passages were repeated, which made the book a little bit wordier than what it should have been. Also, I felt uncomfortable when Jesus was being referenced with “he”. I believe the H should have been capitalized. This is a personal preference, which I believe would not be a problem for other readers.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to Christians who are looking to sharpen their knowledge of the scriptures.
