[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Surviving the storm by" by Mike Tyson.]
The first and best victory is to conquer yourself.
As the above quote goes, the book Surviving the Storm is a read that will help you discover and redeem yourself. Tyson's story is a testament to the journey of self-discovery and the importance of mastering oneself to overcome life's challenges.
Surviving the Storm: My Story and Your Road to Healing by Mike Tyson gets into many themes like discipline, fear, addiction, abuse, and so on. The author's life journey, where he faces all the above-mentioned issues, has been portrayed in a way that will help people overcome such obstacles. What are the symptoms of PTSD? How do you figure out you have them? What all did Tyson face on his life journey? Read the book Surviving the Storm to learn more.
I really liked the book for its inspirational message and emotional reflections. The author has written it with such an open mind without holding back anything. The fear behind every instance, the PTSD symptoms, and the self-awareness to help oneself were all huge pluses to the book. The points on addiction and loss will have a huge impact on people who are suffering similar issues. But the book speaks about so many dark topics, which might feel intense for some readers. The glimpses into Tyson's real life might feel overwhelming to read. I found no major errors in the book.
I would like to rate the book 4 out of 5 stars. This is because the book is a powerful read with so many dark topics like abuse and violence in it. It might feel depressing for people who are moving on from such issues. But the fact that the author tried to help himself in most situations will be relatable for most readers. The symptoms and healing process will be a huge help.
I would recommend the book to people who are suffering from PTSD and are looking for a healing process. The book is more suited for adults and not for younger readers. If you are looking for a simple read, this book might not be for you.
