Your Fun Retirement Blueprint by PJ Doucet is a book that discusses the life that comes after retirement and what one can do to take full advantage of it. The author brings to light several different opportunities that a retired person can do to keep their life full of energy and wonder, such as gardening, traveling, and discovering new friends through new hobbies.

This book was very simple and straight to the point, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! I enjoyed the way that the author provided step-by-step instructions on how to execute some of the tasks that they mentioned. For example, they gave detailed ways to join a local book club as well as the several ways that retired folks can meet others and form their own group of friends. It is so important to keep in mind that providing ideas is great, but sometimes people lack the knowledge to go through with the plan, so having it laid out like this makes this book all the more useful to read! I myself was inspired to join a few groups on Facebook related to my hobbies in order to widen my social circle. Truthfully, I felt that this book was applicable to both retirees and non-retirees. The author’s advice is applicable to anyone looking to find new adventures in life, no matter their age or stage of life!

One thing that I disliked about this book is that every chapter begins in nearly the same fashion. The first paragraphs start with an “Imagine This” scenario, and while this is entertaining for the first two chapters, this gets repetitive after a while.

Overall, I would rate this book 4 out of 5, with points taken away for repetitive introductions to each chapter. This book was well-edited. There was no profanity or sexual content. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to find new ways to enjoy life!
