[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Literacy Roots" by Lauren Daugherty.]
Literacy Roots by Lauren Daugherty was a sweet nonfiction book written to help teach children to read. It’s more than just a literacy guide; it’s also a source of inspiration. Reading and other literacy skills are essential life tools, and they can lead to incredible opportunities. This book is a great reminder of all the wondrous things that can be accomplished when children love to learn and are able to reach their full potential. I rate this a 5 out of 5.
Something I enjoyed about reading this was how interactive the author made it. Within the pages there is a lot of valuable information and tips, but also included are reflection questions and exercises for the readers to practice with. With a book that’s focused on literacy, it was an incredibly smart idea to incorporate the different dynamics of it, such as writing and critical thinking, not just reading. I also respected how much importance the author placed on literacy. Some people might not realize how literacy can affect other aspects of life, so this book is a great reminder of how crucial literacy skills are. Poor literacy can affect health, economic opportunities, and even social integration.
In my opinion, Literacy Roots was very well written. The vocabulary was impressive without being confusing, and I didn’t find any grammar or spelling mistakes. The editing was perfect, and I highly enjoyed reading this; a book about literacy skills that has no mistakes is impressively consistent and extremely trustworthy in my opinion. Since I couldn’t think of any criticisms, I gave this book a perfect score!
Overall, Literacy Roots by Lauren Daugherty was a fascinating and knowledgeable read. I would recommend this book to all families with children of all ages. There is valuable information for every age group in these pages, and it’s never too late to improve on a child’s literacy skills. They are the future, after all!
