It’ll Be Alright, Maggie Jiggs by Karen Thiel is a sad but empowering story about the author navigating the death of her mother. This is not a very linear story of before and after the mother’s death. The book brings her on her journey as she learns to live without her mother and remembers things as time passes. It is an emotionally powerful book. It also reminded me that life is short, and we never know when our last day with our loved ones is. They didn’t know their mother was out of time until she was truly out of time.

I liked how easy the book is to follow. There are a lot of internal monologues, and sometimes that can be hard to follow. However, that was not a problem with this book. The timeline is also easy to follow. It talks about what happened after the mother’s death. A lot of memories are brought up in the process, but it all flows perfectly. I have not lost my mom yet, but reading stories from others helps me a lot. I like learning from the experiences of other people. It is very brave of the author to be open to the world about something so personal.

There isn’t anything that I didn’t like about this book. It was a great length, the editing was very well done, and it was very interesting to read. The story had a sad tone, but that is appropriate. I also felt very empowered by this story.

I rate It’ll Be Alright, Maggie Jiggs 5 out of 5 stars. The author is brave for sharing their thoughts and experiences. They did a great job of doing it in every way. If you enjoy reading about people’s stories or nonfiction, then I would recommend this book.
