Tossa by Shaun Flynn is a charming and inviting memoir that is written with love and humor. Within the first few sentences, the reader knows that Shaun is the type of person you would enjoy talking to. He truly spans all aspects of his life, letting the reader into his real world. Shaun describes his younger days filled with drinks and ladies. He also goes through his adventures into adulthood with rugby and starting his own family.

Overall,I found the memoir fun, but the writing was choppy. It was almost like you felt rushed as the reading. Events were quickly described, but not a lot of detail was included. Some events were given two or three sentences, and then the author would quickly jump into the next event. The writing sometimes gave off the feeling of having a conversation with someone at the bar. You are following the story, but before you understand it fully, the next situation is being described

This book is perfect for a reader who enjoys memoirs, especially ones about an ‘everyday’ type of person. Readers should be aware that there are times when sexual situations are alluded to, and there is a brief mention of an abortion, though it is not in detail. There were also profane words within the text. The language did not take away from the story.

I gave this story 3 out of 5 stars . The memoir was interesting and fun. It gave a great look into the life of Shaun Flynn, but it just seemed too rushed. He went over major events of his life and wrote the memoir in a 'go with the flow' tone. The spelling and the writing mechanics of the book were great. I just wish there were a bit more details about events, like his teenage years. Instead, Shaun wrote some sentences that seemed more like listing events in his life instead of telling a story.

It appears the book covers a lot about the author's life and experiences over the years. I hope that it would not have been rushed; nonetheless, I am certain many will find it informative. Thank you for the review, @Megan Gilligan.

This is a thoughtful and balanced review of Shaun Flynn's Tossa! You've perfectly captured the essence of the memoir—its charm, humor, and inviting tone, while also articulating your key criticism regarding the choppy, rushed writing style.
