As humans, it is a part of our nature to want to be rewarded for our official or personal services. If you have ever asked yourself, "Why not me?" or "Why not now?" This book, Maximize Your Time Until It's Your Turn by Dr. Marcus Ellison, is the answer to those deep questions.

The book starts with the author preparing himself for his pastoral journey, and as we progress, he asks a critical question. Are we serving with a purpose or just seeking a position? This is a question that most Christians do not have answers to, as it is very easy to get lost in the pursuit of personal satisfaction rather than serving God and being faithful to him. Even in the church, most people serve to achieve better positions, such as pastoral seats, secretarial positions, etc. The author teaches from his experiences that service to God should be about faithfulness and not fame.

He further explained the difference between kairos and chronos: God's pointed time and natural time. He further explains that most of the time, we waste valuable time waiting for our turn rather than preparing for God's timing. He explains that sometimes, God tests his leaders by giving them minor roles to see how faithful they are to him before leading them to even major roles, especially in the body of Christ.

One of the significant aspects of this book is that it is grounded in the Word of God. This shows the effort the author put into doing his research for this book. I like how explanatory the book is; it is meant not just for people who are already pastors but also for younger leaders who aspire to be better in the future. The book is written in simple English and not filled with theological jargon, making reading even easier. It made me understand the different seasons of life, leadership, and ministry. The author's conversational tone of writing made the book even more relatable, especially as he included his personal journeys in ministry and his growth over time. One more thing that made this book outstanding is that the author included practical questions in each chapter, which, when answered honestly, would lead to clarity at whatever point in life we are.

This book has no downsides; it is simple to read, understand, and relate to. It answers some of the inherent questions most young people ask themselves. I wish there were more books like this out there. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to Christians and younger people searching for purpose.

Service to God is about faithfulness, indeed, as the energy to serve and the calling itself is from God. One is also just a steward and hence the aim is to serve one's purpose, and not working to earn an earthly reward. The book seems to have a lot of thought-provoking statements. Thank you, @Love Ukaegbu, for the review.

It's clear that the author's focus on faithfulness over fame in service, and the distinction between kairos and chronos, deeply resonated with you. Your appreciation for the book being grounded in the Word of God, its simple language, conversational tone, and the practical questions in each chapter truly highlights its value for both aspiring leaders and general Christians. Thank you for the review.
