We all have 24 hours in a day. Our thoughts, choices, and actions within those hours determine the story of our life. Some people use their time wisely and are happy to narrate their story. On the other hand, some people make one wrong decision after another. The book, Meth vs. Death: No Way Out, unveils the life of Stormy Rainey.
He had a difficult childhood. When he was two years old, his parents went through a divorce. A year later, his mother remarried. Her new husband had one son, Mike, who became the new addition to the family making it a family of three sons. A year later, they were involved in a grisly car accident. Mike died in that accident. Driven by bitterness and the pain of losing his only child, Stormy’s stepfather started to treat them with hostility.
Stormy and Brandon, his brother, started having a difficult life at the age of three. They started smoking weed during their early teenage years. As the story unfolded, I realized that it was not hard for them to find weed and drugs within their neighborhood. Before he realized it, Stormy had already started using cocaine. Cocaine opened the path to his drug addiction. It caused the two brothers to drop their college education and a promising career in football. Although Brandon was not a drug addict, he chose to drop out of college to follow his brother’s footsteps i.e. to use and trade drugs.
The book consists of 21 chapters. Stormy tells his story with brutal honesty. He describes events and scenes as they were. This makes the story quite uncomfortable to read at some points. However, I decided to read it to the end. It is the story of his life no matter how dirty it can get. I do appreciate his honesty because it paints the story as it is. Any type of addict will appreciate the lessons that Stormy gives in the book. It also serves the truth because he warns people not to follow in his steps. As a father who was arrested when his son was only 2 years old, all he has is pain and regrets. He wrote this book from his jail cell.
Although the author uses the best possible words to give his story, the book has many grammatical errors. In addition, the formatting of the book is poorly done. The first-line indents of the paragraphs differ. The page numbers are also not uniform i.e. some are at the center of the header while others are at the right end of the header (assuming that the original document was done using MS Word). It also has many missing quotation marks.
I found the book to be useful. It gives a detailed account of the life of a drug addict. I recommend it to anyone who is struggling with any kind of addiction. However, I give it 2 out of 4 stars because of its many errors.

I agree - but I'm a chicken and I think it's a little too raw for me. Great review, though!Bianka Walter wrote: ↑07 Jun 2018, 05:54 This seems like quite a raw account of his life. I hope he gets the book proofread for the next addition - this seems like the kind of book that could be helpful.
Thanks for the great review!

Yes, the book will need some more editing to perfect it. It could be a helpful book for many. Much welcomeBianka Walter wrote: ↑07 Jun 2018, 05:54 This seems like quite a raw account of his life. I wish that many families would embrace love to stop making the worst out of their children. I am a mother and I always pray that I be the best parent any child could ever ask for. A day at a time with loveSahani Nimandra wrote: ↑07 Jun 2018, 21:13 Brutal honestly is good for someone who has the gut to take it in. I could not help wonder is it a memoir, if not based on a true story. Most criminals even serial killers are made not born. They all have one thing in common and that is abusive family background and unrequited love. Such a sad scenario! It sounds like a good read but it seems to be needing a lot working on the grammatical aspect. Thank you!
