I'll start by saying that I picked this book out of curiosity. I've always had interest in reading about different religions and their respective beliefs. A Thousand Seeds of Joy: Teachings of Lakshmi and Saraswati gave me a chance to learn more about Hinduism. It is a non-fiction written by Ananda Karunesh and published by The Write Place.

A Thousand Seeds of Joy is a summary of the discussion between the author and Goddesses Lakshmi and Saraswati. The book talks about the different takes on religion, money, power and feminism. The author seeks to find answers on the way of life from these two Goddesses. Their response is overwhelming and full of inspiration. The relationship between different religions is discussed at large. Ramayana, Sita and Draupadi are explored plus Mary and Eve (who are outside Hinduism). The convergence of spiritualism takes a whole new direction which you must read to find out.

The book has seven parts and thirty three chapters. The chapters talk about the influential women characters in religion and their roles, and other themes in the book. The Goddesses provide new insights and revelations on spiritual life. They reveal secrets and correct the previous context which is said to have been altered by the male authors. There are endnotes at the end of the book which provide information on challenging words.

The author's writing style is awesome. I loved that the things covered in this book are related to our daily lives irrespective of our religion. The book gives a refreshing outlook on added significance of money and power which tend to dominate the current society. The author asks the right questions which are not often talked about and, the Goddesses provide an enlightening feel on the same.

The book demands a lot of concentration in order to grasp the context. You may also need to refer to other research materials especially if you're not familiar with the Hindu religion.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The writing is flawless and it is professionally edited. I recommend it to any curious fellow or anyone who takes interest in religious studies. Also, anyone who loves women empowerment will enjoy this book. It was a pleasant surprise.
