To all those aspiring millionaires out there, did you know that a 22 Hz drop in your voice frequency correlates to an annual increase in earnings of about 187000 dollars! It simply implies that the inflection of your voice makes you a more listenable human being and an eminent leader. Can a change in my pitch shape me into a better leader? The Leading Man, written by Stephen J. Blakesley, has the answers.
The core of this book concerns with the traits that one needs to develop and evolve as an effective leader. It provides a well-formulated and well-analyzed collection of theories about the steps to establish oneself as an influential individual. It presents data from researches conducted by pioneers such as Sylvia Ann Hewlett, David Pink, Barbara Kellerman, etc. Crystallizing as an elementary guide, it encompasses several key findings of these pioneers inside a single book. Hence, if you are looking for a quick read on improving your leadership skills, this book should be the ideal choice.
What I truly like about this book is the commendable writing of the author which engages the reader through his simplistic detailing of concepts. He outlines six major attributes that build leaders with each attribute articulated lucidly. Several self-help books often state practices without valid evidence that may come across as unconvincing. But, Blakesley does not commit that error by providing appropriate validation of his theories and detailed description of relevant studies. Moreover, he gives recommendations on other books for augmenting these traits. For example, he suggests reading How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie or Ask More by Frank Sesno to improve communication skills and increase one's presence. Consequently, this stimulates a sense of connection with the book and portrays the author’s genuine effort to provide the yearning souls with all the answers out there.
There wasn’t much not to like about this exceptionally well-edited book for my captivation in it found no limits. The only aspect that may dissatisfy the reader would be the unsettled longing for more, owing to the book's conclusion within a mere 160 pages. Without digressing into personal life or protracted accounts of other people’s lives, this book is a straight-forward collection of techniques and ideas. It is a recommendation for all those who wish to enhance their caliber and emerge as prosperous individuals.
In today’s world, one of the most exploited capitals is Human Capital. Conversely, it is also the one that is most neglected. Those who can identify the potential of its investment are successful while those who don’t-end up multiplying liabilities. With billions of dollars invested in Artificial Intelligence and futuristic technology to replace the human worker with these machines, what man fails to realize is he can never program these devices to become leaders. This book serves as an elixir to those who wish to live as immortal leaders. Overall, for the crisp and concise writing, this book deserves a perfect 4 out of 4 stars rating.
