I think the constant changes in his environment caused Rion to be lonely and to have problems mingling socially. I think that if he had stayed at one school long enough to at least make one close friend, then he would have been less lonely and more open to social interactions. It also probably didn't help that he didn't have a strong relationship with the one constant person in his life, his mother.

I cannot really blame her mother. Rion, if he chooses and if he has a will to mingle with people, he can do so. But I think it's he who has a problem sometimes. But sometimes I can't blame him because some people are just really discriminating and not welcoming. But I do understand Rion since that his family seems to move often. It's difficult to move if he will be attached to people at a place he temporarily resides. But it's good to bother mingling because it's healthy to socialize with other people.

Yet, what if his being a loner is the reason that brought him a superpower? Sometimes, I notice that loner or not so famous individuals often get the attention of superpowers in a movie.

I think the main reason would be the fact that he was one who would not stay in a given location for long. I also think he was not that interested in socialising with other people. And also the fact that he was unique, hence more interested in enhancing his ability and exploiting it as well.

It is possible that all the factors you mentioned contributed to making Rion such a lonely figure/a loner. Having such a strange super power, frequent moving and therefore not being able to form strong bonds with others, and the fact that his mother did not confide in him or explain things to him, would have affected him in a negative way.

I had the impression that his reserved nature was mostly due to his mother. On the other side, he had the ability to adapt and fit himself. As a result, I'm contemplating both options.

Given his mom’s over-protective nature, that could be one of the reasons for him to be introvert. Or maybe he himself wanted to distance himself from people just to stay away from limelight. Though, I truly feel its because of his mother.

i very much blame Rion's mum for how Rion turned out to be. The constant moving had a huge impact in him but his mum not being open to him was worse. He need someone who would constantly be there for him. Imagine a naïve shy teen discovering some mysterious powers he had with no good understanding of whom he is. His mum should have done better.
