I love informative books that give me a knowledge I didn't have before, and that's what I got from this book. As someone who studied the sciences I enjoyed every aspect of the book. I recommended it to my older brother in particular because he has children wnd and I think he needs it.

It will make a nice addition to someone's first aid reference book arsenal. It breaks down the basics and provides some alternatives in regards to treatment that usually gets tended to in hospital settings. I say nice addition because it's by no means a definitive guide. There are some topics that you will need to look into further to be better prepared for emergency situations.

This includes but isn't limited to alternative treatments. While some medicines are mentioned, not all are within reach for the average person. Not only that, but there may be a situation where recommended medicines can't be administered due to a known allergy. In addition to this, the patient could be on a treatment plan and the medicine they're taking as part of that treatment can't be mixed with any other medicines.

Even with all that said, it's still a nice book that needs to be paired with other books to ensure all bases are covered. I would recommend this book to others as it's several essential books in one.

This book gets a 4/4 stars rating from me. The topic is important and the information the author has compiled is extremely valuable. It was also formatted in a very user-friendly manner, which is essential if you're actually utilizing the book as a reference during an emergency situation. The illustrations were also useful for similar reasons. Overall, I believe this book is an important reference for anyone to have.

63tty wrote: 06 Oct 2021, 09:25 I think this was a great and unique idea for a book. I love that it talks about unconventional medicine or allopathic medicine as a way to deals with diseases that conventional medicine cannot. It is a great self-help book and as a pharmacist, I am intrigued that I found out about this book. I hardly think there is anything I dislike about it. I believe this is a book that is suited for almost anyone on the verge of giving up on conventional medicine. I believe it is also useful to researchers. Great read.
I also loved that aspect of alternative medicine that the book touched on. We often think the mainstream is the only sollution to our varying problems, but there were medicines before there were wheels, and it's always nice to reminded of that.

Most people are uninterested in this kind of book including me because it sounds complicated and only for those who are aspiring to be medical practitioners but I was piqued why it become the book of the month. I found out later that it truly deserved its place as the book is timely helpful and informative especially now that a lot of unexpected incidents and health issue arises everywhere. This book educates us that we don't have to be medical personnel to perform emergency measures. With the right knowledge and proper execution, the probability of saving a life in unexpected situations is within reach. Therefore, it's 4 out of 4 stars for me.

I am convinced that this Handbook by William W Forgey deserves a four out of four stars. This is considering the elaborate manner that this author has outlined the handling of different medical situations and mind you he explains it to "preppers", who are expected to have little or no prior medical experience. What I would caution readers though is not to expect much help from this handbook if wait for an emergency to occur then they grab the book expecting a savior. In this case, it will offer more confusion than help. We are expected to have read it and have knowledge of its contents as a continuous process.

This book deserves a 4 out of 4 star rating considering how genuinely detailed it is. I loved how the medical procedures are explicitly detailed and it is quite helpful for people who lack basic knowledge on medical procedures. Honestly, because I find this book to be very educative, I couldn't find anything worthy to dislike about it. I will definitely recommend people to read this book because it will come in handy for everyone who lacks basic medical knowledge, who might need to help someone out medically one day.

The author offers extensive knowledge about different medical situations people could encounter. I enjoyed the many suggestions of how to react to broken bones, bites, lightning strikes, poisonous snakes, radiation, etc. It helps you to feel less helpless in these emergency situations. I did not agree with the frequent prescription of antibiotics. I questioned the suggestions that preppers suture mouth wounds and diagnose parasitic conditions, etc. If you are the last resource, then it will be up to you to make these decisions. If there is the possibility of "evacuating" the victim, then you need to be ready to defend any action you take and the consequences that ensue. I appreciated the brief description of herbal remedies and the reading list. I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. Parents and educators would benefit from reading this book and having it on hand as a reference.
