I think it was the right decision and also the only option to give credit to Pete and ensuring that no one learns about his amnesia.

I think he made the right decision and it gave the story a nice turn too.

I think John made the right decision given the circumstance. Since he elected to not tell everyone about his amnesia, he would have made a mess of the interview.

In my perspective, hiding his amnesia at the expense of his friendship with Pete was a bad choice, but he did want to avoid inquiries. I'm shocked at how long he was able to keep it hidden without anyone figuring it out.

I think the idea served him well but cost him a lot. He was able to evade questions that he could not answer on account of his amnesia. However, it cost him his friendship and business with Pete.

I think that it was a great idea at the time, because as you said, it would have been problematic trying to answer questions which he couldn't remember the answers to.

I think John's decision was good. It allowed him to focus on recovering his memories. It also set up the chain of events that led to him and Pete splitting up in their patnership.

Although letting Pete take credit for the work is understandable, I don't think it's smart enough. Being transparent would be better though.

I believe that there's an atom of truth in what he said considering the fact that Pete did a major portion of the work. However, John's contribution was quite fundamental.

It was necessary at the time cos he didn't have his full wits about him. There was no other choice available to him.

I think that allowing Pete to take credit, however undeserved, for the design of the building was a terrible idea. As you say, it did allow John to get his bearings, but knowing what we find out later about Pete’s character, it should have been easy for John to figure out that Pete would eventually come to believe his own lies.
