Peter put a lot of work towards the building. And it seems he got carried away with the glory of it all. While the book's ending insinuate John as the true designer. Also it could be that Peter has stolen or imitated John's designs.

I believe John was the true designer. I will say that the author had me second-guessing myself until the end, but it is inferred that John is the true designer.

Revealing this will be a big spoiler. For now, just know that though the odds point at John, his Amnesia and memory lapse makes it a great mystery to solve.

I think John designed the building. Considering how Pete acted during interviews and what happened with their partnership at the end, I think if Pete had been the designer he would have started taking credit a lot sooner. I don't think his ego would have let him sit back and watch someone else be praised for something that was his idea.

Maybe it's just that I root for the underdog but I find myself siding with Peter despite the author's blatant opinion.

I want to say John but a part of me is still not sure if he because of how it ended.

I think the designer is John. He is the mastermind, while Peter just continued what have been done by John. The ending also gives is a clue about who's the real designer.

John is the designer of the new Zenith building. There are many pointers to that; one of them being his reaction each time he tries to view the building's blueprints. I guess what happened at the time he finished drawing his plans is the trigger for his psychological breakdown every time he tried to view them.

It would make better sense, if John is the true designer but for suspense and dramatic effect the author is free to shift our minds to any direction but i vote for John on this one, hand off Pete.

I also think John is the true designer. Peter clearly put in a lot of work for the building, but I think the ending is a good indicator that it's actually John.

I'm sure John was the true designer. For a brief moment, he was able to tap into the bravery and creativity of his youth. On the night before construction, he started to feel self-doubt and that's when it all fell apart.

The evidence in the book tilts in favor of John, especially from the ending. So, I believe John designed the building and not Peter.

I think that at the beginning of the book you could have been only guessing who was the real designer, but in the end, we clearly understand that John is the real designer of the building.

This was one of the confusing things about the ending. On one hand you have John who was in a three year coma and only woke up when the building was being christened. So it definitely couldn't be his design used since he wasn't made the primary architect. But on the other hand, you have his wife pulling out drawings of his, literally, that indicate it is his. I believe the author wanted to leave us with an open ended book so we could decide for ourselves whom the design belonged to. I therefore believe, that unless the accident and coma were a lie, it couldn't have been Johns'.

Despite the fact that John cannot remember designing and planning the new Zenith building, I still believe that he is the true and sole designer of the building. It's quite logical if you think so about this. When John awoke in the hospital, he encountered several people admiring him so much because he is the architect who created the design for the new building. If Pete really did design the building, then he would have already said that to the public even before the construction started. The only reason why Pete lied and said he is the sole architect is because the government, Zenith, and the public are on his side and would believe him if he said he is the architect.
