Being free is a subject of mindset. It doesn't really matter how privileged you are or what you've achieved. Some people are just constrained by how society views them or what other people think. I think the amnesia gave John a new perspective simply.

I think he felt free in his way. You don't expect everyone to feel the same way. I think his sickness helped him put off a lot of pressure.

I noticed that many who have an abundance of what others lack do not feel free and comfortable as they should. So I understand this feeling in John's case. Thankfully, his amnesia solved this.

Freedom is such an ambiguous topic, but I believe that John didn't feel free because of his success. While success is often viewed as a good thing, it is a double edge sword. It is my opinion that John felt the constant concerns and stress of the obligation to hold onto his success. Sometime, the most free people are the ones with nothing.

Freedom means being able to make decisions and take actions without fear or need to gain approval. Being afraid stifles freedom. John was afraid of making mistakes and concerned more with the approval he received from other people but not from himself. After the attack, forgetting that he had to please people, he finally started making decisions that pleased him and freed him

Being successful and free are two very different things. I would say their are things that John wanted to achieve but could not due to his image.

John wasn’t leading an easy life exactly. He had his own share of problems, the most relevant being his amnesia, which might have resulted in the the change of perspectives from his point of view.

Mental illness cages happiness irrespective of all you have. Amnesia is enough to stall his freedom and that's what it did.

I believe that John's trauma was the reason behind his reason of perceiving things differently from what we suppose he should have.

Amnesia changes a man's thinking and perspectives. The illness could have been the cause of him not being free, causing a withdrawal from so many things and opening one's mind to view things differently.

Sometimes knowledge is a burden and even an abundance of possession adds one extra thing for the mind to worry about or weigh our souls down with. To this end, John having amnesia might have been the key to freeing his soul.

That could be the unique and extraordinary personality of the protagonist of the story! John's feeling of restlessness before the terrorist attack makes all the difference to me! It could be his sensitive nature and constructive energy that needed an outlet!

While I feel the this question is obvious enough, I can say that some experiences can shake your whole being to the core and make you totally a different person. Having everything sometimes can be a pressure on its own, and John is a human being too. His freedom came with the amnesia because there's nothing he is clinging to at that moment so there is less pressure on him. There was a New person, "tabula rasa"

Well..it's a twisted question based on what we understand by the concept ' freedom's. John has fulfilled what life has to offer materially thus he is free from the chains of poverty. However, he is not happy therefore at first, he constructs what pleases him but not what others want. He therefore, is prisoned by his subconscious of desires and wants that he cannot fulfill. Until , he changes his inner being then he realizes he has gained freedom mentally and physically. Thus adhering to the expectations in the architect world.
