Not really. They had minimal or no impact at all. The Revelations don't dwell much on demons, thus not much relevant in this particular case.

The revelations from the Bible helped me too. From the beginning, I had a negative attitude towards certain characters. I also easily created a complete picture about the protagonists. The book, however, offers a somewhat new vision. It should be noted that Cecilia surprised me and even made me think. It is good when we look at certain events from a new angle.

I thought the book had enough descriptions of the demons to help me understand without the need of the revelations of the Bible. However, I do see how the addition of the Bible could make the story more interesting and add another layer of realism to the storyline.

From his exile on the island of Patmos, the apostle John penned the book of Revelation about the year AD 95.
Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea were among the seven Asian churches to which he devoted his work.
Because John spent so much of his final years in Ephesus, it would have been natural for him to share this vision with the churches under his care and influence.
Before John began his presentation of the future that he got in his vision from God, each of those seven churches heard a message tailored to them (chapters 2 and 3).

It helped me to understand the general idea, however, I understand that ultimately, demons were characters as well, and as such, the author took a few creative lisences compared to the biblical stereotype so it wasn't an exact mirror reflection of what it was supposed to be if taken as described in the bible.

I won't say total yes. Other books, movies, and research read have been source of information and helped in better understanding of the book.

I think it was neat that the author included the passages from Revelation. But ultimately the descriptions were her interpretation of what demon are and how they behave. The characters were not necessarily taken directly from the Bible.

I've not read the Bible, and I don't know when I'll read it, so it didn't matter to me that much. I understood the demons from another novels and movies and shows that I have consumed till now.

I am not familiar with angel hierarchy, so that was a detail that the author could have provided more background on. As far as Revelations, I have to admit, I have read it several times, and I don't understand it. So no, it did not help me other than to know that the demons were loosely based on Christianity.

Even though I thought it was nice to have Revelations included, it did not really help me because I've never been a fan of reading the book of Revelations. My understanding of demons comes from other Bible passages, and what I've heard at church.

I would say yes because having a prior understanding of demons from the Bible made the demons in the book familiar. Perhaps if I hadn't read about demons before, my appreciation of the demons in the book would have been different. However, maybe not knowing would have made the book even more alluring for me.

I think it depends on the type of the reader. Some may appreciate the revelations from the Bible and some may not.

Unfortunately, I am not a very spiritual or religious person. So the revelations from the Bible did not prove too helpful to me in understanding the demons.

We appear to have diverse viewpoints on this matter. As a non-Bible reader, this doesn't have much of an impact on me. Having said that, Revelations has nothing to do with how I visualize demons.
