Finding out that Gabriel was Cecilia's saviour was a big twist. It will be unnecessary if she did that herself.

The readers expectations are normally changed by events having suspense or irony. To me the realization of Cecilia's actual age and her humane nature yet she is Lucifer's daughter was a shock for me.

For me, it was the angels at the end. It could have been the clock being the artifact, but I was just like, ‘Ahh, that's why there’s a watch on the cover’.

I think Alexander's demonic actions and not his transition were a huge plot twist as those he did on his own while being turned into one wasn't in his hands.

Finding out that the murder was self-defense was it for me. But I did not feel sorry for Alexander.

Finding out that Alexander committed the murder in self-defense stood out to me because it got me thinking about the nature of being a demon. Committing murder in self-defense is not a particularly demonic act. So is it the act that made him a demon or was his demonic nature waiting for a trigger? Was he inherently demonic all along?

I also found Alexander's demon conversion shocking. But I can't say I sympathize with him because of the things he did after turning. I feel like he could have made better choices regardless of his new demonic nature.

For me, the main narrative surprise occurred at the conclusion, when I discovered further information about Cecilia's mother. This was an excellent surprise, particularly since it included new people (the archangels). It is also when we learn who rescued Cecilia from drowning in a river as a newborn and gave her the watch.

At the conclusion of the novel,  facts about Cecilia's mother was the best plot twist for me. This was a fantastic  because it introduced fresh characters!

How Henry turned out to be the leading player at the end of the story got me. Such a twist! Generally, I enjoyed reading this piece.

I think the plot twist that surprised me the most was how is Henry at the end? But I liked the hook.
