It seemed a bit out of place, but it appeared to me that the author was trying to prepare the ground for the sequel.

Because this is a fictional book featuring fictitious characters, I fully expect this to occur. It's not superfluous, but I think the author should have given this sequence more consideration before moving further. Nevertheless, the fight became much more thrilling and unexpected when humans were added to the mix!

I felt that way. For me, it was unnecessary. But I understand the author trying to use the scene to pass an explanation.

To be honest, I think it's hilarious since it's so ludicrous. It's a shudder chain of events to include humans in an angel conflict. The author could have made important progress of twisting that scene without overdoing it.

Even though I agree that part of the book is cringe-worthy, I feel it was necessary. I like to fully comprehend a story and that part of the book helped me understand how Cecilia procured the artifact.

I agree with this, it was not necessary and could have been handled another way. However, the story being fiction gives room for scenes like this.

I enjoyed it. I thought it left a nice cliff-hanger for the next book. Hopefully there will be another one at least.

Sometimes scenes that are added later or adjusted to fit the plot seem forced. Also, I believe it's hard to portray angels in books and movies. It requires equal measures if creativity abd realism.

It was certainly abrupt but unnecessary, I don't think so as battle ls between angels and demons are a vital part of religious lore

I guess the writer was trying to be spontaneous and bring an unexpected twist to add to the thrill. I personally did not find it cringe, it adds to the suspense of what is maybe to come.

I think it was unnecessary, but as it's a fictional book, I guess anything can go, but it would've been good without the fight as well. The author could've put some other alternative instead of this.

I did not find it unnecessary. It is a great segue to the sequel as it opens up possibilities. Since it is a work of fiction, there is no reason for the author to be limited in her imagination.

Yes, it was. I see no point in adding humans to a feud between angels makes it unbelievably—unattractive!

It was a bit unnecessary to me. It nearly me lose interest but then I reason that it was a matter of choice by the author.

I agree that it was a bit unnecessary. I didn't see the need for the humans to be included in the fight, and it certainly came across as unrealistic.
