One of the best parts of the book! I'm glad the beautiful relationship Lily shared with William was acknowledged by other people as well. William is undoubtedly the best character of the book.

I love Williams. I like how he treated Lily without caring that he was a slave. He provided for eveverything she needs without hiding it. That was really amazing

I think William is a great father figure for Lily. In some ways, I found this arc better than the love story. It had more depth, and personally, I love stories that explore parental connections.

William embodies all that a father should be. I adored William's acceptance of Lily's musical abilities. It was so pure, and it demonstrated how, despite their differences, they could work together to support each other.

Different characters have different roles in every story, and I think the author constructed Williams's role well. The relationship between Williams and Lily was necessary and helpful to Lily's advantage.

Williams and Lily had an amazing father and daughter relationship. One that could be envied. Their support for each other was simply admirable.

I simply loved the relationship between William and Lily. I also liked that their relationship started rockily; it gave a chance to develop their connection in a steady manner. His sweet nature was much needed in a book that dealt with slavery. It balanced the story. The stark contrast between Lily's real father! and William was also shown effectively.

William's character was my favorite as well. Lily and William's relationship was so sweet and touching. I was amazed at the way he recognized her talent and encouraged her.

This may have been my favorite relationship in the book. I honestly cared more about Lily's friendship with William than her romance with James.

I thought I'm the only one who find their relationship amazing, little did I know, most of us did. I like their father/daughter relationship because it's rare. It's like give and take. They help each other for the betterment of each one. This is also one of the factors why I consider this book one of the bests.

It was a mutually beneficial relationship and I do admire the way they were able to help each other with things they held really dear. It was lovely.

I was relieved when Lily found a father in William. She deserved all the love in the world. I too liked the relationship between those two

I was completely enthralled with the relationship between William and Lily. William was truly ahead of his time not only in his thinking but in the way he cared. The man was a marvel. Lily needed someone like William around as she dealt with so many other issues. I believe William became her one constant after they connected.
