Lily is my favourite character. I would refer to her as a lioness. She is so brave. I love the strength she developed within herself. She was an amazing character and she made the story intriguing.

My favourite character is William. Despite his wealth, he exhibited a high level of humility and humanity. A character like him was needed in the book to show that not all wealthy people are selfish or bad. The way he treated Lily made me love his character all the more. The world could do with more people like William.

It has to be William. A father that supports his daughter has always been a rare sight even in today's world. Definitely a heartwarming character that brings a smile to your face.

William would have to be my favorite character. He's just simply a refreshing ray of light in the otherwise gritty and glum world where the story takes place. While James takes to helping Lily because of his feelings and personal devotion to her, William is a stand up and benevolent person to Lily simply because that's how he is; a wonderful person!

My favourite character would be William, he was so generous and patient. Although, Lily comes a close second. I loved how he cared for her.

My favourite character is Lily. I really liked her development throughout the book. I loved the way she started from the bottom and then little by little she overcame her difficulties and became a strong woman.

My favorite character was Lily. Though she was a slave she was confident in herself and a strong woman. Her innocence was admirable.

It is obviously Lily for me. She seems too strong, and I liked her development. I also admire her way of dealing with things and circumstances.

Lily as the protagonist of the story is my favorite character. I adore her passion for playing piano since childhood. Hers' is a saga struggle and proving one's self-worth. It is veritably appealing to me! The slave child Lily gives the story an authentic and realistic touch which is what I like best in reading stories.

Lily is my favorite because of how brave and smart she is. She was so innocent at first, then we watch her slowly build her strength and confidence.

My favorite character is definitely Lily. She is compassionate, intelligent, loving, and strong. Then, it must have been very difficult for a white and a black to form any relationship. Being inculcated as a slave that she was a lowly human compared to a white, it was courageous of her to carry on a relationship with one. Though, secretly.
