James was my favorite character because of being the only one different from his family with a good heart and being friends with a slave.

My favourite character is Lilly ofcourse. Although she was a slave and she had a traumatic childhood, but she was a brave, intelligent and inspirational woman.

I love Lily. She was brave, bold, and did not allow the society or any adversities in her way. Despite the difficulties she faced, she pushed on.

My favorite was with no doubt Landon. I liked his sense of humor, his intelligence, and he helped Lily's career as well.
Great character!

It's not about a favourite character but appreciation to every character in some or another way and every reader will have a unique opinion towards it.. Some will say James' character is a patient one.. Lily is brave and strong.. William is kind and humble and so on.. For me, every character is my favourite and the best of their version!

For me, that would be Lily. She reminds me of a character in a series I recently watched. Both had very strong personalities which I admire.

Lily was my favorite character. Her courage in the face of adversity was inspiring. Her talent with the piano was also wonderful. James was great too.

Lily was my favorite character in the book. She was a strong woman. She went through trials and pain that no woman should even have to go through mentally, physically and spiritually. She had the ability to remain her composure through most of her trials.

For me Lily is the obvious choice. She is from a poor family and knows her limitations. She got a chance to be in the vicinity of James and is thankful for that but never took it as her right of any sort. She took solace in the music and was ready to accept the punishment for that clandestine activity. At the same time she was able to stand for herself in dignity. Lily is my favourite character.

As cliche as it may seem, Lily is my favorite character in the novel. Her intelligence made her an appealing protagonist, and the hardships and trials she faced displayed how much bravery she held.
