Re: Favorite Quote in the Book
There are a couple of sentiments like this in the book, aren't there? Ideas that should be contradictory but aren't, since the world is more complicated than we sometimes pretend it is.Kathleen Wilcock wrote: ↑12 Feb 2022, 11:47 My favourite is when Victoria recalls the saber-tooth cat. She says, "It had been impossibly beautiful. Now it was gone, real only in memory". I like this quote for two reasons. First, it shows that even the most fearsome creatures have their own source of beauty. Second, it also demonstrates how fleeting events are. Just because the cat died does not mean that it no longer exists. It will, like other aspects of the past, continue to live on through people's memories. Through these memories, the past will continue to be beautiful, vibrant, and real.

I have always kept a notebook full of quotes that I like!! This is a great discussion piece for me. This quote was my favorite. In life it is so important to know how to pick your battles (meaning to know what’s important to have a disagreement about., and when to just leave it alone) Not backing down is proving that you believe in yourself and will not let anyone walk all over you so you can voice your individual beliefs whether someone likes it or not.

Nice choice! That line gives me chills. Many are in the habit of seeing endings instead of changes, and the biggest end/change of all.Bertha Jackson wrote: ↑07 Feb 2022, 10:34 What was your favorite quote in this book? Mine was “There is no death. Only a change of worlds.” This quote fit in perfectly with the book because when Sarah and William disappeared it was like they died in the present and went back to their previous live.

What an amazing philosophy. It shows strength of character and unshakeable self-confidence. Its the sort of groundedness I aspire to.fashionista_rose wrote: ↑10 Feb 2022, 08:21 When Sarah was asked to learn how to handle conflicts without fighting, she replied:
"Why? I win my fights. I don't pick fights, but I don't back down. " It shows boldness, confidence, and determination to always win. It could be linked to the challenges of life. We don't pick our challenges but wouldn't back down until they are sorted. We wouldn't back down.

I liked that quote as well, but I also believe that not all conflicts are solved by fighting, and if there's a way to handle them without fighting it would be better.fashionista_rose wrote: ↑10 Feb 2022, 08:21 When Sarah was asked to learn how to handle conflicts without fighting, she replied:

I found this quote extremely inspiring as well. It suits Sarah's character very aptly and is very relatable in the book.Sharon Christanto wrote: ↑10 Feb 2022, 13:07 My favorite is "I win my fights. I even write this quote on my notebook page as a reminder to keep going forward whatever struggles lies ahead.

Interesting also the the daughter said it back to yer father.Inge van Tonder wrote: ↑13 Feb 2022, 12:20 My favorite quote is when Victoria speaks to her father. “Find solutions through partnerships, Dad. You taught me, remember?” That hits home. Solve your problem the right way.

I related to this too. It felt so abstract and yet so concrete. The concept of choice. It was also the way that it happened naturally and organically. I loved that a woman could choose and it played such an important role in other characters' lives. The author managed to convey how special it was to choose. It just resonated with me.Peace Chux wrote: ↑08 Feb 2022, 21:37 When Travis said "The woman chooses in this world too" It came up in a conversation with Sergei about Myra but it meant so much more to me.
