Yes, I have read the first book. And I think this book and other prequel books can be a stand-alone novel. But I think when you are curious about the character(s) in the current book, then you can read the other books.

To be honest, I did not read any prequels to this fantastic novel titled "Totem", yet it remains an interesting read for me. I won't hesitate to pick up any sequel to this book.

No, I have not, however, I plan to. I think this book is quite good, and from the little glimpse we were given into the prequel, I think it is promising too. So, I have decided to pick up the prequel pretty soon.

I have personally not read the prequels, however, I think the books can be okay as stand-alones. I am curious about the prequels so I will give them a try. It would be interesting to see if the books are intertwined.

I have not read the prequel but it didn't prevent me from understanding this book without it. However, reading the prequel will add more spice to events that happened.

I believe that reading the prequels prior to actually reading the third part will make much more sense because it is a classic adventure genre and the previous novels will actually contribute to the plot of the last one.

I didn't read the prequels but this book is great as a standalone. I also feel reading the prequels wouldn't be a bad idea

I have read Adrift before the first one. In fact, I haven't devoured the initial installment yet. I affirm the second and third books in this series are standalone.

I feel like anyone who hasn't read this book should read the prequels. That way, they can relate much better.

I haven't read the prequels of the book either. The book was okay as a standalone but I think it would have been better for me and I have enjoyed and felt the book more if I have read its prequels.

I haven't read the prequels. I think the book can be read as a stand alone but it would be better to read the prequels as it will more sense.

I haven't read the prequels of this book, but I think it might have made more sense for me to read the first two books first. The beginning of the book was too slow for me. It took me some time to figure out who is who and what these visions mean.

No I haven't, but I was enthralled by this one, so I will make a point of reading them soon. I read their reviews and I can't wait to read the actual books.

I happened to read one of the prequels sometime ago. The three books can be read as a standalone, but you might need to read the first two in order to get the subtle plot cues in Totem. Either ways, it won't affect your enjoyment of the book.

I haven't read them, but I feel they would give me a little more insight into the development of some of the events at the beginning of the plot.
