I totally disagree. This is because I feel you can never be a hardcore environmentalist and use mining as a successful business, because no matter how little the effects are, it definitely affects the environment.

On one hand mining can be bad for the environment. But on the other hand if its done with the environments best interest maybe it could be done carefully. So I think it depends on Victoria to know what's she doing so she doesn't harm the environment.

Mining usually affects the environment unless it is managed, or if they make use of friendly mining processes. It's possible to be both, depending on how she does her things.

Victoria is someone who loves the environment and also operates a mining business, I personally do not think that it is realistic in any way. No one who loves the environment would harm it.

Ummm, I don't know about the story but in reality, Victoria's mining business and her being an environmentalist are too far-fetched and ambitious according to me. Since the story is fiction they can make it work but when implemented in reality it will have a lot of problems, to begin with.

A miner and an environmentalist I suppose are from different worlds. Mining brings a form of destruction and an environmentalist tend to appreciate nature. In my opinion a person can only be a miner or an environmentalist if not, there's an ulterior motive.

The two, business woman, especially in mining and environmentalist may not go together.why? Mining is anti-environment.

I feel that her heart is in the right place but I struggle to see how mining can be environment friendly. The process itself is very disruptive to the ecosystem.

It's a bit tricky but I do not think it's completely unrealistic. At least, the author makes her out to do just fine in both aspects and that's what matters (I think?)

You can't mine without disturbing the environment. Victoria may have been both an environmentalist and a successful business woman, but she couldn't have fulfilled her moral roles as an environmentalist considering the type of business she was involved in.

In the real sense, being an environmentalist and also having a successful mining business is impossible. I think she should look for techniques to manage the hazards it can cause to the environment.

Victoria looks like a noble individual and it looks like her heart is in the right place but sadly, mining is a shady business. I don't see how it is possible to mine realistically, sustainably, and in an environmentally friendly manner.

While I appreciate her intention and care for the environment, mining at its very core is an environmentally harmful practice. I major in engineering and am well-informed about how mining disturbs the ecosystem in mining (and surrounding) environments. Apart from the nature of its operation, it also requires several chemicals. I will say that there are slightly safer methods for mining, but these are still inherently and undeniably harmful. To date, there is no mining operation that does no harm

When talking about science, it is important to understand that it's easy for science folks to define the edges, but it is difficult to define the gray area. Victoria lies in that gray area due to her intentions.

I lean towards her being hypocritical, however

Her two occupations are in opposition. Environmentalists find new ways to create a healthier environment for the people while minning, though the end product is rewarding, is also harmful to mankind.

Actually Victoria was one of my favourite characters. She is ambitious and aggressive looking out for opportunities in her life. I'm not convinced she can be an environmentalist.
