Racism was the most unavoidable theme used in this book as a black man set out to fight for another man's country and he does everything he can to fit in, but friendship was also an outright theme.
Many books can inform you but there's only one that can transform you(The Holy Bible). Pls don't forget to drop a comment for this review. Thanks. :D :tiphat:

Exactly and to add to that, nobody is above anyone, learning to accept someone no matter their roots or originality would go a long way to eliminate most of the misunderstandings and struggles we face in the world.

I found the theme of isolation amongst piers quite interesting. The comradery between people that we're being oppressed was also a highlight.

The number one theme in the book, my enemy in Vietnam is racism. An important factor present in the Vietnamese war. Of course, there are others like unity, companionship, friendship and so on.

Other than the prevailing theme of racism, I discovered the powerful theme of companionship that transcends background and race.

Wow, when I read that the Vietnamese people and black soldiers felt that they were on the same side vs. the white soldiers, I really had to stop and wrap my head around that. This book can really open your eyes to the different types of racism and give us even more motivation to bring an end to such ugly behavior among different people. I am looking forward to learning more from the author.

Friendship and loyalty are themes that I would identify. Friendship and loyalty among the soldiers in their time of trouble.

I relate a lot to the themes of racism and also being a fish out of water. Being a person of colour myself that moved a lot, the protagonist having to learn the language and assimilate to this new environment is something I can understand. The friendships when it's finally formed between the foreign and non-foreign is beautiful.

War is many times, a clash of egos. Very similar to racism and discrimination. When people see themselves as superior and others as inferior and undeserving of status, there is friction. If people see themselves as equal in status and reasoning, then maybe whatever issue they have can be settled amicably, thereby avoiding the extremes of war in the first place.

Racism was the dominant theme of the book. There is friendship and comradeship. This two themes were demonstrated by the soldiers in the book. Racism was actually what I dislike about the book. I didn't like seeing some people more superior than others and then this same people using the superiority against other people

Friendship and acceptance are the major themes in "My Enemy in Vietnam."
Books are a unique form of accessible magic. Reading is required for those who wish to rise above the mundane. If you dislike reading, it's most likely because you haven't found the right book.

The very compelling theme of racism and its subtleties. Sent by a nation that regards you as less than human but human enough to fight. Your life viewed as expendable. Conflicting emotions of undeserved patriotism and innocent victims. Companionship, camaraderie and friendship. These were all themes I noticed
