Aside from betrayal, one of the prominent themes I found in this book is all about love and family. How Brandy and Eric met is genuinely unconditional, and their intimate tie is one of a kind. On the other note, Brandy’s uncle Skinner took care of her after their escape in the Red Witch.

Betrayal stood out for me among the many themes. And like you mentioned, Erics death was a major point.

Indeed betrayal is such a horrible experience and feels like a stab to the back. However, there were numerous themes in this book such as tge message of sacrifice and perseverance.

This author has demonstrated many themes in this novel, such as family, revenge, love, slavery, and war. The central theme the story focuses on is betrayal, like when Eric gets betrayed and killed.

Family! I strongly hail family in this one. Their relation with each other was beautiful, positive, and inspiring. I'd loved it. We also have adventure coupled with romance. Beautiful scenes.

Betrayal is the most obvious theme in the book. Brandy's father was betrayed by his colleague, and that was really difficult to take.

I think the themes of betrayal and love are the major themes and are well portrayed by the author. I found all the themes enjoyable except the one for slavery which was a bit cruel. The other themes are family, friendship and self sacrifice.

Loyalty is also an outstanding theme in this book. Loyalty on the part of the crew members and loyalty on the part of Brandy's uncle.

Another underlying theme in the book concerns the fact that there are always consequences for our actions. Brandy's parents died an untimely death partly due to pirate activities. There is much to learn from this.
