Themes of betrayal, loyalty, love, and courage are present in this book. For me, betrayal sounds like the major theme here.

I think this I the best part of the book. How the author was able to build this theme to suit the novel is something that baffles me. Secondly, I must say, the understanding of these theme is quite needed in our present day society as most people are too selfish and self centered.

With betrayal being a huge theme in this book, I was not surprised by the death of Eric in the beginning mainly because of how his character was presented. With him being a sort of villain, as well as Brandy's mother, I think Hendrickson wanted us to feel bad for Brandy despite how her parents were as people. I think the idea of character and karma also played a part in the betrayal theme in that we were supposed to look at the actions of the characters and still see their humanity.

The theme that stood out to me was betray and love. These too were just so strong in the book. Now I think of it, these two almost always go together in books.

Betrayal, family, love, sacrifice, and duty were some of the major themes in my opinion. The author utilized several events and characters to bring these to the fore.

Although there are several themes in this work, betrayal is the main one. There are more factors as well, such as perseverance. Strong and independent traits are portrayed admirably in Brandy's character.

Yeah.. as much as there are themes like betrayal, war, corruption and clashes, I'll like to look on the bright side of the book and say love, forgiveness, unity and friendship.

In a way, I wasn't surprised by Eric's passing. A strong man who is dreaded by Caribbean pirates is sure to have foes. However, betrayal was not the only important theme in the tale. Others included war, slavery, love, friendship, vengeance, and so on.

Themes like betrayal, retaliation, family, love, friendship, and a sense of responsibility are among the book's exquisite themes, in my opinion. Well written and filled with captivating elements, the book.
