Nothing really stood out for me regarding the names.

I have to agree. Names like "Red Witch" and "The Morning Star" imediately make me that much more interested in a novel. I feel like I have this 'feeling' about almost every name I've heard of, whether that feeling revolves around their looks or personality (which may not be a very good thing...). As for unique names, they are definitely the best! :3

I believe there is a relationship between the names of characters in a book and the plot. In as much as this doesn't affect me enjoying the story or not. The author well with the name selection and I like it.

Names don't affect my enjoyment when reading a book. Sometimes I'll come across a name and think, "Oh, that name is perfect," but that's it.

The names didn't stop me from enjoying the book, I would have still enjoyed it if they had different names.

Each character is referred to in a unique way by the author. As seen by the novel's title, Brandy was dubbed "the Pirate Princess", Eric Erasmus was dubbed "the plague", Katrina was dubbed "the Scarlet Mistress
In my opinion, the author did a good job in the characterization of this book.

I also feel Dan Hendrickson used names wonderfully. Example is the name of the pirate ship “Red Witch” the name really triggered more interest in the book. Does characterization and names affect your enjoyment of a book or not. And what do u think about names in books.
I agree I like the use of unique names, yet easy to pronounce. I have read books where the names are hard to remember and/or pronounce and it takes away from the flow and enjoyment of the book.

When I am reading, the names that the author uses show me how creative the author is, and in this case, the author showcased his creativity by using names such as: Plaque and Scarlet Mistress and my personal favorite, the Morning Star.

I completely agree. Unique names like the one that ship was named 'Morning Star', they just draw me further into the book. I love it when these names carry a deep meaning to them.

The names did not affect my enjoyment of the book in any way. I think I would have loved it the same if the "Red Witch" was named Sandra Evans. 😂 I'm serious though.

There is nothing special about the names, they are all common names. I doubt if the names were part of what made me enjoy the book.

Characterisation and character names can affect my enjoyment of a book, though not usually too much. I do enjoy it when an author has put effort into interesting or unusual names, but I prefer decent character development and conflict over more superficial details about the characters, which I feel are incidental to the story.

I agree, I feel like names enhance the reading experience and sets a book apart from others. For example, in Harry Potter the names of magical objects are important for the use of them.
