When you realize that though the Red Witch, Brandy's mother was very tough on her daughter it came from a place of wanting only to protect Brandy with everything she had. Katrina tried so hard to make Brandy a strong and respected pirate so that the crew would always protect her and follow her, when I realized that she had hit Brandy in the face to make her look like the other prisoners, I respected her strength. For me, that made the moment she declared herself to haunt the crew until her heir took captaincy again, before jumping off the ship and hanging herself, a very poignant, and defining moment.

My most heart touching moment in the book would have to be the death of Brandy's mother. I cannot begin to imagine what it would feel like to helplessly watch your own mother murdered in front of your eyes.

Erick's death was chilling and quite emotional. I just could not believe it was happening and that was definitely the most emotional part for me.

When brandy's mother was gruesomely murdered, I actually cried. For a child to watch her mother to die, it was a horrifying and emotional scene

There were several heartbreaking moments in the novel, but Kat's death struck me especially hard. It wasn't only that she gave herself up for her daughter; it was also how she did it.
Books are a unique form of accessible magic. Reading is required for those who wish to rise above the mundane. If you dislike reading, it's most likely because you haven't found the right book.

The most touching thing for me was how Kat sacrificed herself for her daughter. It was really emotional seeing what mothers can do for their children.

For me, the most touching scene was when Brandy watched her mom die. I really feel that a lot of her character and actions were determined by that moment.

I was so touched when Brandy's mom took her life just to protect her only daughter. The love was really immeasurable. The death of Eric's wife also touched me.

The part that made my heart skip a beat was when Brandy admitted to John that she was the daughter of The Scarlet Witch and Captain Eric Erasmus. I feel that night was special in their development as two people who understood each other and wanted to be in love. It showed both their vulnerable side and it made me root for them as a couple.

I'm still reading this book but so far the way that Kat sacrificed her life for Brandy's sake has made an impact on me. It was especially poignant because Brandy witnessed this, changing her life and character in an instant.
