Antagonist is most stories are meant to be defeated. But in this book the antagonist is not consistent.

I believe Dan made the perfect style to characterize Don Lomoche. It is expected that an antagonist is indeed enranging. When we become angered by an antagonist in the story, it means the author is influential.

The importance of an antagonist in a story's plot cannot be overemphasized. Don's role in this book didn't really do it for me. His character was not properly told to fit in to the main essence of an antagonist.

The incompetence of the antagonist certainly does not add to the quality of the plot. It reduces the tension in the storyline and the book is not beter off for it.

Actually, I agree with you. For the most part I loved the story, but he didn't even seem to put in much of an effort. He was more annoying than anything else. It didn't seem like it took much effort to overpower him. It definitely through me off that a fifteen year old could cut his hand off and almost blind him. I think he could have been better developed as a villain too.

I found Don Lomoche's character very weak. The majority of the time, he was only sending out orders. In general, he didn't have the typical characteristics of book villains.

I agree with you that Lomoche was not a strong villain. His character was rather two-dimensional in the way it is written as are the other villains. When Lomoche attacks the Maroons, I never felt concerned that he might win and I thought it was unrealistic that there were hardly any losses on John Edwards' side except Hind.

The antagonist was a complete joke. Personally, I believe villains should be tough. This one was disappointing.

I detest the fact that the antagonist is so weak and is incapable of doing anything like a typical villains.

The antagonists were the weak part of this book both in writing and in character.

John Lomoche was a fascinating antagonist. He might not be true to himself but I believe it's this trait that made him interesting in the story.

While Don Lomoche is a weakling, his level of wickedness is horrifying: making other young girls pay for what Brandy did to him. He was indeed a villain.

Don Lomoche has had his way for a long time. He also successfully wiped out Brandy's parents, therefore, he didn't expect to lose.

I totally agree with you. Lomoche was a character that me laugh and at the same time always found a way to annoy me. I don't understand how he was so ineffective in this book.

To be frank with y'all, though he may seem weak when it comes to physical strength, he doesn't seem so weak in mental strength. Throwing around orders and doing nothing but that is quite powerful in its way when you look at it from another angle, don't you think?
