I was personally unaffected by the medallions aspect of the story. It’s a nice touch that I can see adding to the romance and emotional narrative for some, and I’m glad it was included. There just wasn’t a large impact for me as a reader, but I could totally be the exception.

Did anyone see a connection between the song "Brandy (You're a fine girl)" by Looking Glass in the Medallions? As I recall in the book, John Roberts had it made for his mother, who then returned it on her deathbed to her son, telling him to give it to his love.

In the song, "Brandy wears a braided chain, Made of finest silver from the North of Spain, A locket that bears the name
Of the man that Brandy loved"

And lo and behold, he gives her his locket, which he gave his mother, after buying it in Spain, from the finest silver. Am I dreaming?

Your idea of exchanging the medallion instead of simple rings is wonderful. It woukd have added a romantic atmosphere in the book as these medallions held a valuable importance in both John and Brandy's life

I understand John's feelings; the medallion is significant to him since it demonstrates his mother's respect, and giving it to Brandy instead of the ring demonstrates her love for Brandy.

I believe it is appropriate for the individual; they demonstrated his love for his mother and how much they meant to him. I didn't give them much attention.

I loved the thought behind the medallions. I felt that it meant even more because of the fact that they were heirlooms. I personally treasure heirlooms, so I really loved that aspect of the book.

I think it did. The sentimental value attached to those heirlooms were just too great to be ignored. Firstly, reading about them warmed my heart. Secondly, the improved the book for me.

I do not think it did for me. Maybe the heirlooms charmed other readers but not me. The romance would have been the same without them (to me)

Medallions hold more meaning in my opinion. However, every ornament holds only as much value as you ascribe to it.

The significance of the medallions wasn't overdone but they were meaningful nonetheless. I interpret them as enduring tokens of affection given from one family member to another.

The medallion is significant to John because it demonstrates his mother's respect, and giving it to Brandy instead of the ring demonstrates how much she cares for Brandy.

The medallion story was sweet it added to the story and expressed how John Edwards loved Brandy. His mother's wish is that he should give the ring to the woman he would marry and I am happy he found a wife in Brandy.

It was particularly significant to John since he had the medallion specially designed for his mother. Giving it to Brandy demonstrated how much she loved her. without a doubt superior to a ring. It also demonstrated his individuality, uniqueness, and willingness to try new things.

I agree with you that medallions have a lot more significance than regular rings and that they are very important.
