For me, there are a lot of intruders. I can relate with you on discouragement and procrastination. But, added to that is low opportunities and being too overwhelmed to make a good decision.

I was piqued seeing how the author explain the concept of an intruder opposing our chances of living to our potential.

My own usual intruder is “they are class higher than you” sort of thought. I've just read part of the book once, I'll like to read it all over again, and gain how to fully kick out my intruder(s).

Growing up, my father used to verbally abuse me calling me names like a fool, an animal, miserable. I grew up in life with serious inferiority complex. Even when I was extremely intelligent, I grew up seeing myself as inadequate. I looked down on myself.

I broke away from this intruder much later in life though but I had lost so much carrying this mindset

Procrastination is an intruder I can well relate to but I think self pity kills faster. Many people wallow in self pity and don't try to pave a way out. I've been there before and I'm glad I'm out.

It seems a lot of people have a common intruder in procrastination. And I am no different. However, I try to get things done immediately after I identify them. That way, I can overcome procrastination.

You folks are being generous and magnanimous when you are willing to share how "the Intruder" effects you in your daily life. Your sharing helps me and others to look more deeply into ourselves so we can catch this unwanted mental house guest in its act. This morning I woke up with the Intruder in charge. I was grumping about this and grumping about that. It took me twenty minutes to see who was expressing through me (the Intruder), before I followed my own advice and handled the matter appropriately. That you for your wonderful generosity :) Rob

My intruder is the crippling fear of failure. This will ultimately lead to me not putting myself out there or taking risks. But I believe I can be able to overcome it.

One intruder I face is procrastination. I tend to procrastinate things, and I might not still do them at the later time. I hope to overcome it.

I dwell on past failures, instead of just learning from them, I wonder what I should have done differently. I have very low self-esteem and sometimes don't trust myself to make the right choices. I also take criticism personally, so I am considered highly sensitive.

Procrastination is one intruder I can relate to. The other is having low opinions of myself. I try to give myself a daily dose of love and self motivation as much as possible, but some days, it gets really bad.

Nice question. I got “stinkin’ thinkin’”. I often picture the worst-case scenario and it is difficult for me to adjust to the idea of something. My knee-jerk reaction is “no!”

I'm pondering this while reading the book. I can identify with many of the intruders members have disclosed. I can add the feeling of being 'average' and being someone who 'tries hard'. Echos of my school reports I think!
Maybe I can challenge this as I continue to read.

The biggest intruders I personally face are procrastination and self-doubt. They have severely stifled my progress in life.

Procrastination and self-sabotage. I often find myself putting off things for a while, and when I start them I sabotage myself in the middle.

It's not an everyday occurence, but after I became aware of these two, especially the latter, I've been reminding myself daily that 'I got this', and I'd rather do things slowly and finish them, instead of stopping midway and regretting later on.
