Soaring sales by Amazon in Britain.

Post by Lakelander »

Amazon, having revealed they are selling 114 eBooks for every combined total of 100 hardbacks plus paperbacks, have now said their sales figures are pointing to a renaissance of reading in Britain, with British Kindle owners buying four times as many books than they were, prior to the Kindle eReading device being introduced only two years ago.
This also suggests that readers are becoming much more adept at sorting out the wheat from the chaff, when it comes to finding their favourite character types and storylines. The Kindle's Search Box, into which readers can feed in keywords and find award-winning novels and authors, has revolutionized the task of locating a "good" book. Combining this with the fact that the best authors are now providing generous free sample Previews of as many as their first five chapters, means that readers are able to browse through their Kindles at leisure, on the bus, train, plane, and ship, or simply in the comfort of their own sitting room, confident at last that by choosing for themselves, they will never be disappointed in tales that failed to aspire to the High Street bookseller's and mainstream publisher's rosy reviews.

Much of the sucess of ebooks is due to the price.
Here in Norway the book industry has managed to keep the price for ebooks
almost at the same level as traditional books.

The goverment has also decided to add 25% VAT for ebooks and 0% for traditional books... :?
