I have a Kindle because it's globally available. Couldn't get another e-reader if I wanted to, though I would've picked the Kobo if I had the choice due to greater user control.

But my Kindle's served me well. Bought it way back when it launched here (PW3), and it's still going strong. Not planning to switch it anytime soon, something I can't say for any of my other newer devices.

"I prefer a Kindle for its convenience and extensive e-book library. Kindle's user-friendly interface, portability, and adjustable settings enhance the reading experience. The seamless integration with Amazon allows easy access to a vast array of titles, and the e-ink technology reduces eye strain. While Nook has its merits, Kindle's broader ecosystem, reliability, and continual updates make it my preferred choice. The versatility and ease of carrying an entire library in a compact device align with my on-the-go lifestyle, making Kindle the ideal companion for my reading adventures."

I just got a Kindle Paperwhite when the model first came out and there was no competition for that at the time. Now I already own a lot of books for Kindle so there is no going back even if I wanted to. But it suits me just fine. I can read books from Libby. There is just way more books available, especially for me who likes to support self-published authors.

I have a Kindle because the books I wanted to read (Vesuvius Rise & Revenge) were only available on the Kindle (they didn't have physical copies). I've only read the last four (the other two being Return of the Outcast and Fall of the Honor Guard) and the series is no longer available. Since I enjoy many popular TV shows and movies (like Supernatural and Star Wars for example) it comes in handy, since I would have no room to store all the physical copies of those books (though I do still prefer physical to digital).

I no longer have that Paperwhite (which was the 10th Generation) and recently bought the 11th Generation (though through installments instead of the full price all at once, since I was a little low on funds). I opted for a sample of Catalyst (the prelude to the novelization of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, since I started the physical copy when the movie was still in theaters but never finished it), but I'll probably end up purchasing it at a later date.

I have a Kindle I purchased about ten years ago after my Kindle Keyboard version decided to stop working! I also have a Kindle Fire 7 and 8 tablet my elder sister purchased for me over two separate Christmases. I love my Kindle for these reasons:

1. I can have all my old favourites loaded on there for me to read anytime, anywhere!
2. I am able to carry around a whole library in my bag.
3. I signed to a Kindle Amazon membership. Being able to download free books is
wonderful.

Just like oceanqueen7, I still like to read from physical books, I enjoy doing so.

I have a kindle because I it is not too expensive and it's got so many useful features like the built in dictionary, bookmark, the ability to translate words and ability to change the font, format and page size etc. I also like to order some items from Amazon and that does not exclude the affordable electronic books that I download onto my e-reader.
