I currently have a kindle fire, I love it because you save money but theres nothing better than feeling the book in your hands as you read.

Nothing can beat an actual physical book, however, I read so much that I'm overflowing my bookshelves at home! E-books have allowed me to solve this problem and still read several books. However, I still sneak off to the library several times a month just so I can have at least 1 book in my hands that is real!

Sometimes it's easier to find an ebook version than the actual book. I can carry around more ebooks than real books. Having said that, I will always prefer the real thing, nothing feels and smells like a book, but a book!

I love to see that other folks comment on how much they love the smell of books! The first thing I do with a new book is open it up to smell it. :) Strange, I know. There is nothing like the feeling of a real paper book, but I do enjoy the convenience of e-books. I can read on my phone any time, anywhere, and I have discovered the world of free books with my Kindle. I guess you could say I am now addicted to both.

I love real books but you can't beat a good quality eReader for convenience. It would take a lot for me to give up my Kindle now.

I like both things. Paperback is a good thing since I love seeing stocked bookshelves in my room, and it causes less eyestrain than readers. However, I do have a reader and am in a love-hate relationship with it. I love it because I can carry it anywhere with me and won't have to worry about the space that 3 or so books will take up in my bag, but I hate it because I constantly have to charge it, especially when I'm on the road and don't have immediate access to electricity.

I also am all for the physical books over ebooks. Granted, ebooks would be more convenient in traveling but I love the texture and the smell of books. I also love the homey touch book shelves bring to a room.

I agree, the feeling of a physical book and turning its pages, even its smell, can't compare to an E-book. Even though I come from the "generation of technology" I was brought up with books and that is what I prefer, but E-books do come in handy as well. They are useful for people on the go and for individuals that wouldn't want to damage their books by environmental factors, like rain and such. :D

I absolutely adore reading paper books but I do own an ereader for books that are only published as ebooks. The day I got my ereader my Mum actually said that she knew I would always buy a paper book before an electronic one

A paper book definitely, although an ebook is good, it just doesn't compare with a proper hardback.

I prefer paper books, I love the way they smell and feel. I love lugging a bag full of books around. It is a bit different now that I have to lug my daughters things around, but I still carry a book or two along. I love collecting books, I feel like they are my trophies and I love displaying them on my book shelves. Me and my husband want a room like the library in "The Beauty and the Beast." I would probably never leave. With e-books you don't have the same satisfaction by seeing all the books you've read. You can't keep half of them on your e-reader if you want new ones they take up data. With paper books they easily stack in corners and on book selves.

I personally love physical books a lot better. There is a great satisfaction with turning a page and smelling a new book. It's just so much better,

A year ago, I would have completely agreed with you on preferring real books to ebooks. I love the crisp, freshly printed pages of a brand-new book and my favorite thing to do - right after I bring a new book home - is to prop it open dead-center and take a nice, long whiff of the never-before-read pages. Today, I am a bit torn where ebooks and paper copies are concerned. While there is nothing more exciting for me than to spend an hour digging through densely-stocked library shelves on Saturday mornings, I also cannot deny the convenience of e-readers. I carry my iPhone (stocked with Kindle, Nook, Storia, iBooks, and other free ebook apps) everywhere and it is just too easy to dive into a book while, say, waiting for my son to finish basketball practice or standing in a ridiculously long line in the grocery store. I also find myself getting through the book faster (not sure why) when I can just scroll my way through the pages. And: My husband is happy about my much-slower-growing collection of textbooks, novels, and other non-fiction works that has already taken over our office and spare bedroom. :) But: I'm not choosing either one. I like keeping my options open and enjoy the perks of both reading methods.

waniyaahmed wrote:I know there is this hype around ebooks and readers, but honestly speaking I just don't get it! curling up with a good book, especially after a long day is my favourite thing and you just don't get the same feel with the readers. And who doesn't love a full book shlef anyway? What are your thoughts ebook or the real thing?
Second that big time :)

I love my ebooks. It's so much easier to be able to have all my books in one place. It's also easier to carry around instead of lugging around lots of books.
