I'm always so envious of people who can read and do homework while riding in the car.

I get motion sickness for sure in a car (this is when audiobooks come in handy), but in larger vehicles like a train or on the airplane, I'm usually ok reading. The exception is that I cannot sit facing backward on the train or I will get motion sickness as well. Random, I know.

The only thing I can think of recommending is audio-books, but those are expensive!

I used to read in the car as a kid and have no problems, but my parents asked me to stop, saying that I would get a headache. As I grew older, I genuinely started to get headaches/feel nauseous, so part of me wonders whether it's psychological.

I used to read in the car every second of the ride when I was young. Now that I am older I am finding that more difficult to do. I get car sick reading, playing on my phone, or doing anything too long in the car.

I get nauseous and slight headaches after I read for a bit in the car. My best advice is to just read in short intervals if really want to get some reading in. I've never tried it, but they do make motion sickness tablets you can take - that might help?

I regret that I cannot enjoy a book while in a moving vehicle. I would love nothing more than to read a book while commuting, but I get dizzy after a few pages. My mother has no problems doing it, and I envy her.

Yes. Don't feel too bad, though. The anomalies are actually the people who CAN read in a car. The cause of motion sickness is simple: when the eyes and inner ears experience contradictory data, the response is nausea. This is why playing FPS video games has the same effect. Instead of the eyes seeing a stationary image while the inner ears feel motion, as with reading in a car, the opposite is true. Your eyes say you're moving, but your ears say no.

I'm 50 now, and have yet to find a cure for this.

I enjoy reading in the car. It helps make the trip go faster. Recently I have been reading through my kindle app. I haven't looked into it but there might be a way to have the books read to you.

That is the exact opposite of what I experience in a car. I usually sleep or read through car trips if I'm not the driver. If I stare out the window at the passing scenery, that's what makes me sick when I travel. Have you tried Dramamine, or Meclizine?

It's actually the opposite for me. I can read a lot easier in the car on my Kindle than I can a physical book. I don't get motion sickness, but reading physical books in a car makes my eyes hurt.

I can't and never could read anything in the car without feeling sick. Aeroplanes are not so bad and buses are better too but only for a short time.
