I would like to chime in regarding the e-book reader worthiness. I made the best impulse purchase ever in 2012. I bought the black and white (earlier version) Nook and haven't had any complaints. It isn't as nice, or advanced as the newer color ones, but it still works like a dream. I have used it for my college textbooks and personal reading books to read at my leisure. I have also used it to download and store music from my computer. The reader is similar to a compact laptop and can do some of the functions, such as searching websites, FB, reading magazines, books, music and allows you to share/trade/purchase easily.

When I bought the reader it was because I was getting a deal on it. I found out that I felt like I was at a disservice prior to owning it. I was able to have a lighter textbook in my hands to complete my homework. I had novels to entertain me while on lunch breaks that could fit in my purse and weigh just a few pounds. I also had the most exciting time at the gym with the Nook. I could blast my music in my ear buds while reading on the treadmill. Depending on what you want to spend, you can still get a great product from B&N or Amazon for just a few hundred dollars. I think you should consider the purchase, I won't steer you on either product, but it was for me the best investment ever! Not to mention many titles are cheaper as an e-read book and you can download free books from your local library too.

Yes there really good and easy to carry around. It's also a great way to keep all your books in one place.

I used to be a 'real' book lover and when my partner got one of the first kindle keyboard models I thought 'no thanks very much' When the kindle fires came out that was the turning point as I need to see book covers in full colour and same for pictures within a book. This you can do with a kindle fire. The screen lights up so it's great for reading in bed yet doesn't light the whole room up so doesn't disturb your partner. The dictionary function is great and I often find myself holding my finger on a word in a traditional print book by force of habit now! The tablet style kindles aren't good for reading in the sun eg on holiday but that's not a problem to me as I prefer to be in the shade and the anti glare screen protector I have on it works really well. I f you do want to read in bright sunlight on holiday you are better getting a kindle touch or paperwhite. On these the charge lasts weeks too.

Although I am a collector and a huge fan of paperback books, I believe that getting an ebook reader would be great. If you are travelling, it would come handy. When you want to read for your leisure time and you are out in the streets, an ebook reader would be a great companion.

It’s definitely worth it. The world, surprisingly spearheaded by the old fogeys like me who grew up on physical books, are turning en masse to ebooks. But don’t be deceived. Paper books are not going away completely. They will co-exist together with the electronic varieties. A similar thing happened to radio when TV came along. Personally I like to have printed versions of my select books in addition to the electronic ones.

IMHO, it's totally worth it.
I am using my second Kindle touch screen version and let me tell you that it's the best 200 bucks I ever spent on anything.
Ever since, I started using it, the amount of reading has risen significantly for me.
The thing I like the most is adjustable font size.
Since I can enlarge font as much as I want, I no longer suffer eye strains and thus my reading endurance has improved a big time.

I adore my kindle. It amazes me how I can be in the middle of an ebook, and suddenly want to turn the page :)

I was given a Kindle Fire over a year ago for a birthday gift. To be honest I wasn't too keen and did wonder if I would ever use it. A year or so on andI love my Kindle Fire. I use it everyday mainly for reading but also use apps and check my email on it. I also have a basic Kindle which I take on holiday because the Kindle Fire is unreadable in the sun. I'm an avid reader and, in days gone by, much of my luggage was taken up with reading material. Now I take one small Kindle and I'm more than happy with that.

I was hesitant at first too. I love the feel of books, turning the pages and the satisfaction of holding something you've just read. I got an ereader because I have access to so many more books now. I carry 319 books everywhere I go now. Real books are still worth it and wonderful, but they can get heavy - and I like to have a rotation of books!

I was not convinced I would like an e reader because I felt like I had to hold the book in my hands. But, my husband bought me one and it is the greatest gift I have received. I have a Nook Color and when I travel I always have a book with me thanks to my Nook. I cannot image not having it now.

I was torn for a long time about getting an ereader. I love books. I love the smell, the sound and the feel. I like being able to feel how far into a book I am. But, I finally caved and bought a kindle, the original kindle...and I love it. I still prefer reading "real" books, but the kindle is accessible and as many others have said, a wonderful thing for travel.

I was just looking at readers last night. I definitely see the advantages even for us old fogeys  . One of the best things is being able to make the print a comfortable size. It also makes sense to read the magazine virtually rather than all the print copies in the recycling bin, although I just as often pass them on at work or the library.

I don't feature owning one myself any time soon but they are an awesome innovation!
